Burglary on Lowell Street in Reading

The following is an excerpt from the log from Friday through Sunday. The information is open to the public.
Arrests
At 2:19 a.m. Friday, a caller reported that an unknown vehicle struck a Toyota. According to police, an officer located the vehicle and as a result of the motor vehicle stop Benjamin D. Johnston, 21, of 22 Myrtle Ave. Wakefield was arrested on Pleasant Street on charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and failure to use care when backing up.

Friday, Aug. 10
- At 9:54 a.m., a resident walked into the police station to report that his neighbor is throwing cigarettes over his fence and into his yard and they are burning holes in his tarp that protects firewood.
- At 10:28 a.m., a Lowell Street resident reported that his house was broken into. The screen was popped out and a jewelry box was taken.
- At 11:56 a.m., a Perkins Avenue resident reported that an unknown group of people jumped over his fence and swam in his pool. The fence had been damaged and vomit has been found. The incident has happened several times this summer.

- At 9:53 p.m., a Haystack Road resident reported a loud party. Police spoke to the homeowner who agreed to turn the music down and remain indoors for the rest of the evening.
Sunday, Aug. 12
- At 7:35 p.m., a caller reported harassing phone calls and strange text messages.
- At 8:04 p.m., a North Street resident reported that his bike was stolen.
- At 9:33 p.m., a caller reported that his car was hit while parked on Walkers Brook Drive.
