Fresh Veggies and Flowers on Park Street

O'Brien's Wind Swept Farm has fresh vegetables and flowers available.

If you've been searching for a Farmer's Market or place to buy fresh vegetables in North Reading, look no farther than Park Street. Colin O'Brien's family has owned the Wind Swept Farm at 382 Park Street since 1968.

The farm offers fresh vegetables, herbs and flowers. Enjoy the beautiful scenery at the farm and buy ingredients for your dinner at the same time.

According to O'Brien, everything is grown organically at the farm. They have corn, potatoes, cucumbers, various kinds of tomatoes and squash, lettuce, broccoli, peppers and more. The normally have garlic, but are currently sold out.

"It goes fast," O'Brien said of the garlic.

Tomatoes cost around $2.50 per pound and cucumbers are 50 cents each. Customers can clip free basil during their visit to the farm. They also have flowers, geraniums and pansies, for only $1.

They don't have set hours, "come in any time," O'Brien said.

O'Brien grew up in North Reading and now teaches guitar lessons at the . He also takes classes online with the Cornell Extension Program. His next class will educate him on organic certifications.

North Reading resident David Brown of Lorax Tree Service was at the farm Friday. He goes to the farm "every year" and it is his favorite place to stop with his daughters, he said.

"It's so peaceful here," he said.
