Gas Prices Continue Climbing In Reading

The price of gas in Massachusetts, and the United States, has been continuing to climb recently, up six cents from just one week ago, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).

The national average for gasoline is $2.80, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report. The average price of regular gas in the Bay State is currently $2.77, up from $2.71 just one week ago and up from $2.65 one month ago, the organization said.

According to GasBuddy.com, a website that reports gas and diesel prices through crowdsourcing, the locations with the cheapest gas in Reading are:

  • Cumberland Farms, 295 Salem St. and Line Road, at $2.65 per gallon of regular gas.
  • Mutual Gas, 85 Main St. and South Street, at $2.65, cash price.

AAA said gas prices made an “unexpected jump”, reaching a new high in 2015. Despite this sharp increase in recent weeks, motorists are still paying about 86 cents per gallon less nationally and about 92 cent per gallon less in Massachusetts than the same date last year.
