Reading EDC Awarded $10K for Local Businesses

The Reading Economic Development Committee, in conjunction with the Planning Division, recently announced that they received a $10,000 grant award from The Massachusetts Downtown Initiative. With the grant money, the town will offer a program, Best Retail Practices, to local business owners as well as the opportunity for eight businesses to have a one-on-one consultation with retail expert Christine Moynihan.

According to a recent press release, "This program brings professional advice to independent retailers in the areas of store and restaurant design, layout and visual merchandising, customer service and both traditional and social media marketing."

Moynihan co-founded the program and also administers it. She has delivered the program to over 1,000 business owners in Massachusetts, according to the release.

Town Planner Jean Delios and Staff Planner Jessie Wilson took part in one of Moynihan's workshops.

“She brings lots of DIY ideas for the business owner, and I hope all Reading businesses will take advantage of this workshop," Delios said in a recent release.

Business owners can apply to be one of the eight businesses that will receive a free one‐on‐one in‐store brainstorming and consultation session with Moynihan, followed by a written report with ideas and comments from her.
