The Town of Reading is hosting a Men’s Health Fair beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
“This our first ever Men’s Health Fair. We are trying to target the male population with nutritionists, hospital representatives,” Steven Dilaro Health Agent for the Health Department said. “A lot of males don’t like to speak about health issues and try to play through injuries.
Several local health organizations will be featured at the Pleasant Street Center, offering blood pressure screenings, flu shots, balance screenings, lung cancer screens and strength screenings.

“We want to encourage men to stay active and aware. We have one month free gym membership, nutritionists encouraging healthy eating habits.”
Unfortunately for junk food enthusiasts, Dilaro said that diet has a greater impact on health than exercise, though the two should go together.

“About 70 percent of fitness is rooted in nutrition,” Dilaro said. “This is a great event for guys to come out and learn a few important things regarding their health.”
This event is part of June’s National Men’s Health Month program. It will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 49 Pleasant Street.
