This year's tree lighting marks the return of the annual tradition after a two-year COVID-19 disruption. Both the town of Reading and the Reading - North Reading Chamber have promoted the event in recent days and weeks. A similar event is planned in North Reading.

All told, event plans call for amenities including a live ice sculpture creation, trolly rides, visits with children’s characters, hayrides, s’mores and an appearance by Santa Claus, among other things.
