Reading Schools To Recognize Outgoing Superintendent

John Doherty is leaving after 34 years in the Reading Public Schools.

READING, MA — The Reading Public Schools will honor outgoing superintendent John Doherty. Doherty announced last year he would leave the district when his contract expires in June.

Thomas Milaschewski, who most recently served as a superintendent resident in Medford, will take over as superintendent July 1.

Doherty spent 34 years in the Reading Public Schools, first as a teacher at Coolidge Middle School. He became superintendent in 2009 following the passing of superintendent Patrick Schettini Jr.
