Snap Fitness May be Moving Into 30 Haven St.
The Snap Fitness has Fitness on Demand for busy members to take advantage of.
Reading resident and Franchisee Dave Crowley is hoping to open a Snap Fitness at 30 Haven St. He is still in the lease negotiation process, but would like to open this fall.
According to Crowley, Snap Fitness has features that make it stand out from other gyms. Most importantly, they have a "cutting edge approach as far as classes," he said. The gym will have a studio where members can take a variety of different group classes such as aerobics or yoga, but that studio is also used for Fitness on Demand. If you can't make a live class, you can use the studio's 10 foot screen and sound system to watch and participate in a class that is shown on the screen. You can sign up for a time to use the room alone or with a friend. Fitness on Demand is very "user friendly" and the staff will walk you through it during your first time.

At Snap Fitness, the staff puts an emphasis on helping members achieve their goals. And because they are not large facilities, members feel comfortable, Crowley said.
It's not just "a building with equipment to work out in." Most owners are "hands-on" and do a lot of personal training themselves, like Crowley plans to do.

He has worked in the health and fitness industry for almost 30 years, and will get re-certified as a personal trainer before the gym opens, he said. He has completed several triathlons and marathons.
Crowley will spend time at the gym talking with members and getting feedback, which is critical to the gym's success, he said.
“You have to stay on top of what members want,” he told Patch.
Crowley has not purchased the equipment for the gym yet, but is looking to have Matrix or Cybex equipment and Octane elliptical machines, which allow you to work on strength and cardio simultaneously.
The gym will be "friendly and affordable," he said. He wants to help people with wellness because "it improves so many areas of your life and areas of the community.”
