'Stamp Out Hunger' This Weekend
Donate food items to the food pantry this weekend.
Reading's Stamp Out Hunger event is this Saturday, according to the Chronicle. Residents can make a donation to the Reading Food Pantry without leaving home. Place your groceries outside near your mailbox and your mail carrier will bring them to the food pantry at Old South United Methodist Church.
Once mail carriers drop off the donations at the food pantry, the food will have to be sorted and shelved. If you would like to volunteer to help, stop by the food pantry between 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m, the Chronicle said. Refreshments will be available.

- Cereal (hot and cold), coffee (instant and regular, caffeinated and de-caf), Tea (all types), hot chocolate, juice, and juice boxes
- Canned meat and fish products like stew, hash, chili, chicken, tuna, salmon, sardines and ham
- Health products like toothpaste, shampoo, hand soap, laundry detergent, and dish detergent
- Canned vegetables and fruit including spinach, creamed corn, tomato products, potatoes, peaches, applesauce, and pineapple
- Baking products such as oil, sugar, flour,cake mix, brownie mix, bread mix and pancake mix
- Rice ( brown, white, and instant) and dry potatoes
- Paper products like toilet tissue, facial tissue, and paper towels
- Snacks like microwave popcorn, granola bars, raisins, and crackers
- Condiments – ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, and salad dressing
