Tierney Reaches Out To New Voters In Reading

Selectman Ben Tafoya hosts successful event to support Tierney's re-election.

The following was submitted by the office of John Tierney:

On Saturday, Reading Selectman Ben Tafoya and his wife Meghan Young opened up their home to host a grassroots event in support of Congressman John Tierney’s campaign. Tierney addressed a crowd of 50 Reading residents about his campaign and the work he is doing in Congress.

“I am proud to support Congressman Tierney. He has always dedicated himself to fighting for the middle class and working hard to make sure communities, like Reading, get the support they need. I look forward to working to re-elect John Tierney in November because he is always working on behalf of his constituents,"  said Tafoya.

Tierney talked about making infrastructure improvements that will spur job growth and shifting our national focus to investing in America. Tierney let those in attendance know that there is still a lot of work to be done in Congress to strengthen the middle class, create jobs, and keep America moving forward. Tierney stressed the importance of replacing the Tea Party controlled Congress with a Democratic majority this November and the stark differences between him and his opponent.

“It was great catching up with old friends and making new ones in Reading this weekend. The turnout at Saturday’s event was great and confirms the positive response we are getting every day across the district. This election is about who will stand up for the families in the 6th District and what we can do to rebuild our economy from the middle class out. I am looking forward to continuing to talk about the issues that matter to working families in the 6th District,” said Congressman John Tierney.

Tierney’s campaign is coming off of a strong fundraising quarter and is building up an aggressive grassroots campaign across the 6th District. The campaign continues to pick up local support every day along the campaign trail.

“John’s focus on improving education, making health care affordable, and growing the middle class is why I wholeheartedly support him. We cannot afford to have the Republican majority in Congress continue getting in the way of progress,“ said event host Meghan Young.

“John has always stood up for regular families in our community. We can always count on John Tierney because he always puts the middle class first. I was recently laid off from my job of 25 years. There is no one I trust more then John Tierney to grow our economy and put people like me back to work,” said Dianne Kennedy of Reading.
