1. Selectmen Interview 3 Finalists for Town Manager. Each of the three finalists for Reading town manager took a turn in the spotlight Tuesday during their public interviews with the Board of Selectmen.

The finalists are Robert LeLacheur, Reading’s assistant town manager and finance director since 2005; John D’Agostino, Abington town manager since 2010; and Kerry Speidel, Lunenburg town manager since 2007. (The screening committee identified Speidel as town administrator.) 

2. Kim Penney Hoping to Go Out On Top With Lady Rockets. After 15 years on the sidelines for the Reading High School girls basketball team, head coach Kim Penney is stepping aside following the current postseason. And Penney is hoping to go out on top.

3. How Much Will the U.S. Senate Elections Cost the Town? According to Town Clerk Laura Gemme, state elections typically cost around $25,000 to $30,000. The U.S. Senate primary and election should be in that ballpark.

5. Austin Prep Wins 'Battle of Reading' to Advance in Super 8. It was a play that summed up Reading High School's Super 8 series against in town foe Austin Prep. Close, but not quite enough.

With four seconds remaining in the third period, trailing 1-0, the Rockets finally beat Cougar sophomore goalie Elijah Harris for a split second. The puck fluttered over his head and came to a stop - right over the cross bar and on top of the net.
