1. Selectmen Name LeLacheur New Town Manager. Reading’s new town manager is a familiar face here: Robert LeLacheur. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously last night to name LeLacheur, the town’s assistant town manager and finance director for the last seven years, the town’s top administrator after an hour of discussion about the three finalists for the post. The board interviewed the three on March 5.

2. Ban on Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Incompatible With State Law. On Wednesday, Attorney General Martha Coakley ruled that towns in this state, including Reading, cannot ban medical marijuana dispensaries, according to BostonHerald.com.  

3. Selectman Candidate Profile: Daniel Ensminger. Daniel A. Ensminger is running for a seat on the Board of Selectmen, but this will not be his first time. Ensminger was a selectman from 1989 through 1998 and, if elected, plans to bring leadership to a young board, he said.

4. New Pope Francis I Elected: Catholics in Reading React. The conclave chose Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio to be the new head of the Catholic Church Wednesday. Locals across the community were happy with the choice.

5. Vesey Jolts Austin Prep Into Super 8 Final. Austin Prep's 'super' season will end on the biggest stage. Thanks to a 2-1 victory over top-seeded St. John's Prep on Wednesday night inside Lowell's Tsongas Center, the Austin Prep boys hockey team will play on Sunday in the Super 8 championship game on the ice of TD Garden.
