Zumba to Help RMHS Choral Students Attend Vocal Competition
Exercise and help local students at the same time.

Have you ever been to a Zumba class? Whether this is your first time, or you are a seasoned expert, attend a Zumba class at RMHS Sunday, March 3 to support local chorus students.
Twenty-nine students from the Mixed Chorus at RMHS plan to attend Festival Disney in Orlando this April. The cost for each student is about $1,000 and the Board of VOICE (Vocal Organization Inspiring Choral Excellence) is working to raise money to help defray the costs.
“If we raise enough money, the cost for the kids comes down,” Vice President of Fundraising on the Board of VOICE Ruthie Gordon said.

According to Gordon, Festival Disney is a competition that allows students to get critiqued by professional judges, see what other chorus' around the country are doing, and learn about their craft.
This will be the first group from Reading to represent the town at this competition and the 29 members who attend will bring their knowledge home to share with the rest of the chorus, Gordon said.

The Zumba event was originally going to take place on Sunday Feb. 24, but was rescheduled to March 3 due to the weather forecast. The class will be held at the Barrows School. Registration starts at noon and the 90 minute Zumba class, taught by an RMHS alum, will begin at 1 p.m. The cost is $20 and will help defray the cost of the trip for each student.
There will be a raffle after the class with over 20 different prizes from local businesses. Prizes include everything from yoga classes to salon products and services to gift baskets. Buy six tickets for $5 and take your chance at winning a prize.
