The Most Expensive Property For Sale in Salem Is...
You'll need to be a developer with deep pockets and vision for this $3.5 million parcel on the North River.

We went looking for the most expensive piece of property for sale in Salem according to Zillow.com.
What we found wasn't (as I expected) a mansion in the Chestnut Street District. It's an empty acre parcel along the North River right beside a junkyard.
To see the potential here will take a developer with deep pockets and some vision. The text describing 12 Franklin St., which is along the river halfway between North Street and Furlong Park, describes it this way:
"This parcel is located in the North River Canal Corridor Zoning District, which has been rezoned for mixed-use development in an attempt by the city to revitalize the neighborhood with a mix of multi-family residences and business uses."
It is waterfront property, of course, and right across from the T station. Who knows? Could be a real gem in the rough.
