A flood watch has been issued for the area. The flash flood watch runs from late Tuesday night through Wednesday night. The heaviest rain will happen in eastern Massachusetts during the afternoon and evening on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

Additionally, there may be “embedded thunderstorms” with torrential rainfall with rates up to two inches per hour. If rainfall in that heavy, there will be a potential for urban and localized flash flooding, plus small stream flooding, the weather service said.
