Cadillac Frank Murder Trial Underway
The former mob boss faces allegations that he killed a nightclub manager at his Sharon home in 1993.

BOSTON, MA — The long-awaited trial of Francis “Cadillac Frank” Salemme is now underway in U.S. District Court in Boston.
The 84-year-old former mob boss stands accused of murdering former Channel Nighclub manager Steven DiSarro of Westwood back in 1993. Prosecutors allege that DiSarro went to Salemme's Sharon home in May 1993, where he was allegedly strangled to death by Salemme.
Testimony in the trial began Wednesday. In opening statements, Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred Wyshak said DiSarro was killed because he was not a made man Salemme could trust, according to the Boston Herald.

Steve DiSarro was 43 when he was murdered - his body dumped behind a North Providence mill building. The government says there could have been various motives for the murder, but the main one is that Cadillac Frank thought DiSarro was weak and about to rat him out to the FBI. pic.twitter.com/zIsUyUMMz9

Attorneys for Salemme said they will leave the jury wonder if DiSarro was really killed by mobster and lone witness Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi. Attorney Steven Boozang said Salemme has admitted to other killings, but denies this one.
