Sharon Man Found Not Guilty Of Rape Charges

While innocent, Erik Silva is now in the custody of ICE, according to a GoFundMe created to help him pay for his legal costs.

DEDHAM, MA — A Sharon man who was held for two years on rape charges has been found innocent of all charges.

The not guilty verdict came June 17 following a jury trial, according to Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham. Silva turned himself in on 2016 after police announced he was wanted on charges of rape of a child with force, rape of a child with a 10-year age difference, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or older.

Despite the verdict in his favor, Silva is now in custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, according to a GoFundMe created to help cover his legal funds.
