Sharon Official Among Top Finalists in Medfield Superintendent Search

The Medfield Public Schools Superintendent Search Committee has narrowed down a pool of 30 applicants to just three which they recommended as finalists to the Medfield School Committee on Monday night. One of them is Glenn Brand, the current Assistant Superintendent of Sharon Public Schools.

Current Superintendent of Schools Bob Maguire will retire on June 30.

School Committee member Eileen DeSisto chaired the 11-person search committee whom she thanked for their participation. 

The final three candidates include: 

Glenn Brand. Current Assistant Superintendent of Sharon Public Schools. Formerly worked in the Needham, Wareham, and Dennis-Yarmouth school systems. He is a candidate for his doctorate.

Jeff Marsden. Current Superintendent of Wrentham Public Schools. Previously worked in Douglas and Taunton school districts. Has a Ph.D. from Boston College.

John Phelan. Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Personnel in the Milton Public School District. Has worked many years in Milton district, also worked in Boston Public Schools, and was an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts. He is working on his dissertation in educational leadership from UMass Boston.

Medfield School Committee Chairman Debbie Noschese thanked the committee for the many hours it put in toward the search.

"I think we have some good results," she said. "We're excited about these three finalists." 

Next, the committee will conduct site visits to the candidates' current districts to observe them in their home district and talk to staff. The committee will also host the candidates in Medfield where they will also meet with community stakeholders, said Noschese. 

"Our hope is to have a finalist named at our April 8 meeting," Noschese said.
