After First Year, Wild Indigo Boutique Going Strong
Stylish South End shop is becoming well-known throughout the region.

If only all beginnings were this good: a year after opening her first business in , Christina Murphy is drawing customers from all over New England and becoming known for her impeccable styling and eye for artistic talent.
Murphy celebrated Wild Indigo’s one-year anniversary earlier this month and is thanking her customers with a special 50% off sale on select gift items in her Dartmouth Street shop.
But what Murphy has proven over the past year is that her store isn’t just about gifts. She’s expanded her clothing selection and now offers personal styling advice for women from Boston and beyond. Murphy now reserves Monday and Tuesdays for one-on-one styling appointments after she began receiving calls from customers looking for advice on accessorizing certain outfits.

“This is so exactly what I want to be doing,” said a beaming Murphy on a recent morning. “It’s really exciting.”
Murphy attends fashion shows and events and scouts for talent everywhere she goes. Through her relationship with designers, Murphy has been able to stock her store with high-end pieces at reasonable prices. Designer Daniel Hernandez of DH Studios will be hosting a trunk show with pieces from his latest collection at Wild Indigo on October 21 and 22.

But Wild Indigo isn’t just about fashion - Murphy’s collection of hand-mixed teas has also taken off, leading to a collaboration with the Lenox Hotel. Wild Indigo now has a featured tea on the menu at City Table – a lemongrass and green tea blend.
Despite her quick success, Murphy isn’t looking to expand just yet. She says she’s happy with her pocket-sized store, which receives shipments of new merchandise every week.
“I think this is the perfect size,” she said. “There’s a lot to see in this little space.”
