Five Things: Cathedral High School Celebrates Partnership

The South End high school and the Adopt-a-Student Foundation held their 10th Partnership for Success dinner last week.

Today is Thursday, October 27. Here are five things you need to know:

1. Cold and rainy today. Showers with patchy fog and highs in the upper 40s. Northeast winds 15 to 20 mph.

2. and the Adopt-a-Student Foundation celebrated their 10th Partnership for Success dinner at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel last week. Adopt-a-Student co-founder and Fidelity Executive VP John Remondi was honored at the event. Remondi was a 1954 graduate of Cathedral High School and has assisted the school with many renovations.

3. Don't forget to enter our Halloween costume contest for a chance to win a trip to New York or LA to meet Heidi Klum (any Project Runway fans out there?). It's simple to enter, just upload a photo of your kids in their most creative Halloween costume . Heidi herself will select the winner and donate $1031 to the winner's charity of choice.

4. Friday is National Champagne Day, and to celebrate, Wine Shop is hosting a free Champagne tasting. Stop by Friday between 6 and 8 p.m. to try four sparkling beverages including Gosset Brut Excellence and Gosset Grand Millesime Brut 2000 (that's a mouthful).

5. The Planned Parenthood Advocacy Fund officially endorsed at-large councilors Ayanna Pressley and Felix Arroyo. This is the first time in its history that the PPAF has endorsed a race in a municipal election.

“If re-elected to their posts...Ayanna Pressley and Felix Arroyo will continue to fight for women’s health and family planning services while opposing any policies that would restrict or harm access to these vital services for Boston residents," PPAF President Dianne Luby said.
