Five Things: A Message of Peace at the Library

2. South End youth contributed to a piece of artwork promoting peace and acceptance at the . The painting, pictured above and signed with the artists' handprints was, coincidentally, created the weekend of . It now hangs in the children's room at the Tremont Street library.

3. Not registered to vote? The deadline is October 19 if you want to participate in the November Municipal Election. You must be a United States citizen, a resident of Boston and at least 18 years of age to register to vote. Click here for more information. 

4. Youth between the ages of 15 and 19 can apply for after-school jobs funded by the Boston Youth Fund. The deadline to apply is October 21 and applicants must be residents of Boston and currently enrolled in high school or an alternative educational program. 5. A piece of interesting data: The Globe reported Sunday that a third of this year's home sales in Massachusetts were cash sales. It's a trend that's consistent across the country. And it's true about more than 50 percent of home sales in Boston.
