Five Things: Ben Franklin Institute Celebrates New Lab
Alternative Fuels Lab funded by grant from Liberty Mutual.
Today is Friday, September 23. Here are five things you need to know:
1. Happy first day of fall! We've got rain and more humidity to kick off the season. Showers will be heavy this afternoon, with temperatures in the 70s.
2. Mayor Menino stopped by the on Thursday to help cut the ribbon on the College's new Liberty Mutual Alternative Fuels Lab. The lab, which will help train students to dianose, repair and maintain alternative fuel vehicles, was funded by a $250,000 grant from Liberty Mutual, which has supported the college since 2007.

“We are grateful for Liberty Mutual’s transformative gift," said Institute President George Chryssis. "As the interests of education and industry converge, mutual partnerships are essential to meet market needs and social challenges."
3. This Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., stop by the South End's newest dance studio for free performances, classes, music and more. Urbanity Dance is now located at 280 Shawmut Ave. and they'd love to meet you. For more info, click here.

4. Here's a scary fact: iParty is predicting that Charlie Sheen, Casey Anthony and Arnold Schwarzenegger will be among the most popular most popular Halloween customes this year. Also on the list: The Real Housewives, Anthony Weiner and (for kids), Angry Birds.
5. Plans for a public market by the Rose F. Kennedy Greenway are moving along. The Public Market Commission is holding a community meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at the State House to discuss how the market could compliment Haymarket, food labeling and certification, transportation to and from the market, and educational programming. The market is expected to create significant construction jobs in the near future and up to 200 permanent jobs when it opens.
