Five Things: Friends of South End Library Meeting Tonight

Packed agenda for annual meeting.

1. The goodness continues. Today’s forecast: mostly sunny with a high of 75.

2. Well, that was a glorious holiday weekend. In preparation for the next big summertime holiday, I bring you this announcement, from the USS Constitution: The USS Constitution sets sail annually on July 4 to Castle Island. Only a handful of folks win a spot aboard the warship for the special trip. If you’re not one of them, you can get a spot on board one of the two vessels that will follow the Constitution – for $75. Lunch is provided. The trip is sponsored by Boston Harbor Cruises. Museum members receive $10 discount. For more info, click here.

3. Are you a friend of the ? Then head to the annual Friends tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the South End branch. The agenda includes updates on fundraising, events, library news, developments at the BPL, and a possible redesign of Library Park starting next year (we have a story on that coming up later today). All are invited.

4. This past Sunday, the Boston Center for Adult Education was packed with cartoonists and their fans celebrating exhibit, which featured over 130 comic strips published by some of the biggest names in the business. Check out photos from the event later this morning.
