Five Things: June 8 Proclaimed 'Haley House Cookie Day'
City Council recognizes non-profit for 45 years of service to the community

2. June 8, 2001 is now known as "Haley House Cookie Day" after the City Council recognized the non-profit for its hard work using food to support, educate and better their community. Members of the Haley House attended last week's Council meeting in recognition of the non-profit's 45th anniversary. The council presented Daniel Cordon, a Haley House employee, with an official resolution thanking him for his two years of service through his work with the Haley House’s Transitional Employment Program, which assists individuals transitioning from incarceration.
3. Wednesday's Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals will be held in Vancouver, but parking restrictions are still being rolled out in Boston. Police announced they will restrict parking near Fanueil Hall, the Boston Garden and Fenway Park from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m during the game. Click here for a full list of parking restrictions.

4. Attention Pilot Block neighbors: the neighborhood's annual picnic gathering will take place this Thursday in starting at 6 p.m. Stop by the West Newton Street park for food and drink and conversation with neighbors. The Pilot Block Neighborhood Association will be providing wine and soft drinks and neighbors are encourages to bring snacks or appetizers.
5. Boston is the place to be if you're a pedestrian, so says a new study by Transportation for America, an organization that ranked the city as the least dangerous place for people on foot. The study indicates that about 5 percent of Boston residents walk to work -- also that the annual fatality rate here is 1.1 (per 100,000 people). Want to read more about the study?
