Five Things: Kindergarteners Celebrate Start of School

Boston kids counted down to kindergarten at the Boston Children's Museum on Tuesday.

1. More sun today with temperatures reaching the mid 70s. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph.

2. Hundreds of kindergartners – wearing Boston’s now-famous “I’m going to kindergarten!” yellow t-shirts – enjoyed an afternoon of games, activities, food and fun on Tuesday at the Boston Children’s Museum. The first day of kindergarten is Monday, September 12. 

3. held its own celebration yesterday, welcoming students and their families back to school with food, games, music and colorful balloons. The first day of school for students in grades 1-12 is Thursday, September 8. Check back later for photos of the event.

4. Think your kids are too young for yoga? Think again. The Boston Center for Adult Education is offering Karma Kids, a yoga classes for toddlers, starting September 13. The 7-session class helps toddlers develop coordination and balance using stories, songs and fun with postures that have been modified to suit growing bodies. Pricing is $140. Click here to sign up.

5. Do you recognize this cat? She was found on Wednesday in Blackstone Square and delivered to the Animal Rescue League. She recently had kittens, which are missing. If you recognize this cat or hear crying kittens, please call the Animal Rescue League of Boston at (617) 226-5620.
