Five Things: Peters Park Celebration This Saturday
The annual park-wide celebration includes music, food and activities for all.

Today is Thursday, September 29. Here are five things you need to know today:
1. Showers are coming our way today along with patchy fog and temperatures in the low 70s. Pack that umbrella!
2. The Second Annual '' Celebration is this Saturday from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. All are welcome to join in the festivities which include tennis and yoga clinics, Tai Chi demonstrations, juggling, face painting, storytelling, food trucks and music. Proceeds from the event will support park maintenance and improvements. Click here for more details.

3. teacher Lisa Goncalves is one of 25 high-performing teachers in the Boston area selected as a Teaching Policy Fellow by Teach Plus, a national non-profit organization based in Boston. During the 18-month program, Goncalves will participate in leadership activities with teacher leaders from across the country, enabling her to advocate effectively for policies that will better serve students and retain quality teachers in Boston.
4. The work of 35 Puerto Rican artists is currently on display at La Galeria in Villa Victoria. The exhibit, entitled "," examines the concept of portability through painting, sculpture, performance and mixed-media. Stop by the gallery at 85 West Newton Street now through November 2 during gallery hours.

5. This Friday is the deadline for students wishing to register for the Independent School Entrance Examination. The test, offered November 5 in 12 locations across the city, is required for entrance into the city's three exam schools: Boston Latin School, Boston Latin Academy and John D. O'Bryant School of Mathematics & Science.
