Five Things: Police Warn of Increased Break-ins

Officers in District D4 urge residents to take precautions.

1. Today's forecast: sunny skies with highs in the 80s.

2. The Citizens Connect smartphone application now allows users to report damaged or missing street signs in addition to potholes, graffiti and streetlight outages. A new feature adds a button onto the menu of types of service requests to include missing or damaged signs. Android or iPhone users can use the application. Click here for more info.

3. District D4 police issued a warning to South End residents on Friday of a rash of break-ins occurring in the neighborhood. Intruders have been gaining access to dwellings through open windows, air conditioners and unlocked doors, police said, using fire escapes as their route. Residents are reminded to keep all doors and windows locked while they are away, and to monitor open windows while at home.
