Five Things: Winter Street Sweeping Delayed

Pilot program has been pushed to next year, neighborhood association reports.

1. Sunny skies today with highs in the upper 40s. Winds around 5 mph.

2. An expanded street sweeping pilot program slated for the South End will begin in March of next year, according to the Rutland Square Neighborhood Association. City Councilor Bill Linehan in the winter sweeping program, which has been successful in the North End. The programs implementation has been pushed to March 1, 2012 in part because of the logistic involved in changing street signs around the neighborhood, accoring to the RSNA newsletter.

4. Boston Developer Arthur Winn, whose Columbus Center development never came to fruition, will be fined $200,000 as part of a plea deal to halt an investigation into charges of illegal campaign donations, the Globe reported. Winn has been charged with funneling thousands of dollars into the campaigns of U.S. Reps Michael Capuano and Stephen Lynch, in part to win support for the Back Bay/South End project.
