Today is Tuesday, Jan. 18. Here are five things you need to know:

1. The dreaded “Wintry Mix” is headed for Boston so better leave those pricey shoes in the closet. Forecasters are predicting snow in the early morning (from 6 a.m. to about 9 a.m.) and then a mix of snow and rain beginning at noon. Temps will reach the low 30s midday.

2. “Don’t get sick,” it’s everyone’s goal by January’s bitter end. With the Boston Health Commission reporting a high number of flu cases this month, it's best to air on the side of caution.
