Five Things You Need to Know Today, March 4
First Friday, tax help, and a new exhibit at the Museum of Science.

Today is Friday, March 4. Here are five things you need to know:
1. It's another cold day in the South End. Forecasts are calling for highs in the mid-30s, sunny skies and winds around 5 mph.
2. It's First Friday in the SoWa arts district, which means free fun and free parking at 450 Harrison Ave. On the first Friday of each month, artists open their studios to the community from 5 - 9 p.m. Come check out new works being created right in your neighborhood.

3. A new diabetes exhibit will be on display for a limited time at the Museum of Science. The installation will explain the disease by taking visitors inside a 40-foot "blood vessel" that shows how too much blood sugar damages the body. The exhibit also features video games and a refrigerator that tells you what to eat. It will be on display through April 3.
4. Stop by the Boston Center for the Arts for a performance of Heart and Soul: The Songs of Frank Loesser, celebrating his 100th birthday. The show, by New England Light Opera, features some of his greatest songs, including works from Broadway musicals Guys and Dolls and The Most Happy Fella. Shows are on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5, at 8 p.m. at The Calderwood Pavilion. Tickets are $32 adults/$28 seniors/$5 student rush.

5. 'Tis the season for taxes. Yes, it's a pain, but we all like getting that check back from the government (please tell me you don't owe them money instead). If you need help filing, the Boston Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition provides low and moderate income taxpayers with free financial services, including 25 tax assistance sites where volunteers will help you get the most out of your returns. Not too shabby.
