Cooling centers and pools open late during heat wave.

Potentially dangerous heat and humidity levels will spread across Boston and Massachusetts starting on Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service (NWS) warned residents.
A heat advisory issued by the NWS says hot weather along with "oppressive humidity" should arrive in the city on Thursday and continue into Saturday. The heat wave will likely break on Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to reach the high 90s on Thursday and Friday.

Mayor Thomas Menino also issued a heat advisory, reminding residents to stay cool by drinking fluids and limiting outdoor activity. The city's cooling centers will be open and pools will be open until 9 p.m. for residents who want to cool off.
“The hot weather has now become steamy weather as higher temperatures and humidity arrive this week,” Menino said in a release. “In these conditions, we must remember to stay cool and hydrated and continue to keep an eye on our neighbors.”
