Mt. Washington Bank Opens For Business

The Washington Street branch held a celebratory ribbon-cutting Tuesday morning.

The South End's newest bank is now open for business at the corner of East Berkeley and Washington streets.

Mt. Washington Bank, which has branches in South Boston, Dorchester, West Roxbury and Jamaica Plain, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday morning with bank executives, community members and employees.

"We're just excited to be part of the neighborhood," said Mt. Washington President Edward Merritt.

The full-service branch offers a full line of products and services with dedicated commercial and residential lenders on site, a seating area with free Wi-Fi, an internet kiosk and a 24-hour ATM.

Construction on the 2,500-square-foot space, which was last occupied by a home furnishings store, began in February. The branch is now open for business Mon. - Wed., 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Thu. - Fri., 8:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; and Sat., 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
