Police: Man Shot With Bean Bag Gun Was Carrying Drugs
Boston man arrested after violent physical struggle with police outside Back Bay Station.

A 27-year-old Boston man who was by police outside the entrance to Neiman Marcus at the Copley Mall yesterday was arrested after refusing to obey instructions from officers trying to subdue him.
Police were called to the Dartmouth Street entrance across from the Back Bay MBTA Station after mall security reported a man wearing no shirt and baggy jeans pacing back and forth in front of the store.
When officers tried to escort the man off the property, he became agitated and appeared to conceal something under a hat in his right hand, according to a report of the incident. Fearing a weapon, police asked him to show his hands, which he refused to do, instead moving toward police and shouting, “Just shoot me!! Shoot me!!” according to the report.

The suspect also pointed his hand at police, “in such a way as to suggest the suspect was in possession of a weapon,” the report stated.
Officers eventually subdued the suspect using a “less-than-lethal” weapon, otherwise known as a bean bag gun. After a “violent physical struggle,” officers apprehended the suspect, identified as Max Corona, 27, of Boston. While being apprehended, officers observed Corona attempt to ingest a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, the report states.

He was charged with disturbing the peace, possession of a Class B drug (cocaine), assault by means of a dangerous weapon on a police officer and assault and battery on a police officer. He was transported to Boston Medical for further evaluation.
