Render Coffee Opening Soon on Columbus Ave

The owner of the South End’s newest café knows a thing or two about good coffee.

Chris Dadey, who will be opening Render Coffee next week at the former location on Columbus Avenue, plans to offer customers some serious java and, for those who want it, a lesson or two.

First off, forget the communal coffee pot. All coffee at the shop will be hand poured using kalita wave brew cones to ensure “the best cup possible,” Dadey said. The shop will serve Counter Culture coffee as well as a rotating guest roast, and espresso drinks and MEM tea will also be available. 

Highlawn Farm in Lee, Massachusetts will be providing the milk used at the shop, and mochas and hot chocolate drinks will be made using Taza Chocolate. Iggys bread and bagels will be served as part of a limited breakfast/lunch menu with a focus on local farmers and fresh ingredients.

In addition to serving great coffee, Dadey plans on hosting coffee cuppings, home brew classes and “latte art throwdowns”. Home brew equipment will be available for purchase along with bulk coffee and teas.

As with its predecessor, Render Coffee will provide free wifi with no time limits for paying customers.

The café will be a new look for the second floor shop, which was home for six years to the ladies of Uptown Espresso. A note left on the door of the café in September thanked the community for “wonderful moments and memories.”

For Dadey, the Columbus Avenue space is now home after 10 months of searching for the perfect location.

“We are looking forward to providing the South End with a unique cafe experience,” he said.
