Second Aaron Hernandez Trial Likely to Begin No Later Than Fall 2015

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said it is important to proceed with a trial on the 2012 South End double murder case.

The prosecutor in the Boston double murder case allegedly involving Aaron Hernandez said on Friday that the trial is likely to begin no later than this fall.

Hernandez, a former New England Patriot, was found guilty of first degree murder for Odin Lloyd’s death on Wednesday. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Abreu and Safiro Furtado, 28, were killed when someone fired at the BMW they were in near the corner of Herald Street and Shawmut Avenue in Boston on July 16, 2012. Prosecutors have said Hernandez was the gunman. He was indicted for the murders in May 2014.

Conley said he wanted to start the trial earlier, but felt it made sense to give attorneys months to prepare because they are coming off of a long case, according to CBS Boston.
