Shots Reportedly Fired Near Mass Ave. Intersection Monday Night

Witnesses described several scenarios, no injuries or arrests in late-night incident.

Reports of shots fired in the vicinity of New York Pizza brought police from District 4 and Northeastern University to the South End intersection but yielded no arrests.

Officers were called to the area surrounding New York Pizza around 10:15 p.m. Monday night for reports of gunshots fired in the area. Upon arrival they received numerous and varied accounts from witnesses claiming to have seen or heard the shots.

According to a police spokeswoman, one witness reported seeing a young, light-skinned male leaning out of the passenger side of a Toyota-style vehicle firing four shots in the direction of Columbus Ave.

Another witness said three shots were fired from the passenger side of a black sport utility vehicle traveling up Columbus Ave., police said.

A group of young males were also reported “running and ducking” along Columbus Ave. in the direction of Northampton Street.

Officers from District 4 and Northeastern University conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate any suspects or victims, police said. No arrests were made in the incident and no injuries were reported.
