Editor’s Note: The following article has been updated to clarify that the new housing plan aims for $21 billion in private development and that the city of Boston is not spending that disclosed amount as part of the effort, according to a spokesperson at the Boston Department of Neighborhood Development.
A new report compiled by Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s administration suggests that Boston must build 53,000 housing units by the year 2030 to deal with a growing population, according to The Boston Globe.
