Captain Paul Ivens was on the force for 37 years.

Last week, Boston Police said goodbye to retiring Captain Paul Ivens, in the South End, while welcoming his daughter, a recent Boston Police Academy graduate who will also serve in District Four.

According to the Boston Police Department, Ivens spent time in the Explosive Ordinance Unit and was the commander at the Marathon Finish Line in 2013, among his many assignments.

The final roll call of his career was attended by the first half shift officers, Police Commissioner William Evans, Captain Ivens' wife and family, and dozens of officers who had the privilege of working with the Captain over his 37 year career, according to BPD.
