Things to Know in the South End Today, May 8: Free Workshop on Chinese Herbs

Find out what you should know in the South End today.

1. Weather: The National Weather Service is predicting a cloudy day, with a high near 70 degrees and a 50 percent chance of showers or a thunderstorm. 

2. Free Chinese Herbs Workshop: Tonight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., you can stop by Pathways to Wellness (1601 Washington St.) for a free workshop on Chinese herbs. Are you curious about Chinese herbs…What conditions are they effective for? 3. Rosé Tasting:   Spend your Saturday at The Urban Grape (303 Columbus Ave.) for a grand rosé tasting, from 2-5 p.m. Over a dozen rosés from around the world will be open at each store to sample, for free. A 15% discount on mixed or full cases of rosé will be available for those making a purchase. Kitchensurfing will be on hand sampling food. See here for more information.

4. Swans are Back: In case you missed it yesterday, the public garden's two swans, Romeo and Juliet, are back in the park. They were greeted by a large parade. Check out a video here. 

5. Boston Bites Back: There's a special fundraiser coming up next week at Fenway Park - Boston Bites Back, a chef-inspired event held at Fenway Park in support of The One Fund. Brought to you by Ming Tsai, Ken Oringer, Governor Patrick, Mayor Menino, and in partnership with ARAMARK and the Red Sox. May 15, 2013 from 6pm – 10pm. Tickets are $200 each.
