Water Main Break Leads to Traffic Detour on Harrison Ave.

A water main break at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Traveler Streets caused major traffic jams this morning and remains under repair.

Detours have been set up on Harrison Avenue between Herald and Traveler streets and the road will remain closed for most of the day, a Boston Water and Sewer Commission spokeswoman confirmed.

Water service has not been shut off in the area.

Crews are on the scene repairing the break, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Though the break caused minimal flooding, traffic was snarled during the morning commute, a spokeswoman said.

"It interrupted a lot of traffic in the area coming on [and off] the expressway," she said.
