Early Bird Deal For Stone Zoo's 'A Wild Affair' Tickets

Five things about Stoneham you need to know to start off your day.

Here are five things to know today, Monday, March 25

1. Storm should miss us. A slight chance of snow today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, then a slight chance of rain after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northeast wind 7 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Tonight, a chance of snow, mainly before 11 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northeast wind 14 to 16 mph. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

2. Save on tickets to Stone Zoo's 'A Wild Affair.' Early bird tickets for $40 are available now through the end of March. After March 31, advance tickets will cost $50 each and tickets purchased the day of the event will cost $60 each. The fundraising event is on Saturday, June 22 from 5:30-9:30 p.m. and features food trastings from local restaurants, live entertainment, a silent auction, a chance to see the animals and more.

3. Congratulations to Chris Colbert. The Stoneham Middle School eighth grader won a Shields scholarship to Boston College High School.

4. 'Thoroughly Modern Mille' at Stoneham Theatre. This upcoming production of the 2002 Tony Award-winning musical, running from April 18 through Mary, is a reunion of sorts. Season eleven's '42nd Street' director/choreographer Ilyse Robbins is teaming up with New York actress Ephie Aardema, who will portray Mille, and Stoneham native and favorite Kathy St. George as Muzzy.

5. Volunteer for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). The Pan-Massachusetts Challenge is seeking volunteers to help with registration, medical support, bike repairs, luggage transportation, security, food service, set-up and clean-up during the two-day bike-a-thon that spans 190 miles across the Commonwealth. Volunteer registration for the 34th annual PMC, which is set for Aug. 2-4, is open now.
