I-93 Fuel Spill Closes Lanes In Stoneham

The fire department said about 125 gallons of diesel fuel is believed to have spilled on the highway.

STONEHAM, MA — Emergency crews are responding to a fuel spill from a tractor trailer on I-93 South in Stoneham, Fire Chief Matthew Grafton said. The spill happened around 10 a.m. near Exit 35 at the Stoneham-Woburn line.

The tractor trailer's fuel tank had ruptured after being struck by debris in the roadway, the department said. About 125 gallons of diesel fuel is believed to have spilled onto the highway.

Crews are working to contain and mitigate the spill. Two lanes of I-93 South are closed in the area.
