Multiple Stoneham High Sports Teams Chase State Titles In Final Four
Stoneham girls soccer, boys soccer and football teams will all soon play for a spot in their state championship games.
STONEHAM, MA — A trio of Stoneham High School varsity sports teams remained in the hunt for a state championship as of Monday night, with football as well as both girls boys soccer teams securing spots in the coveted Final Four stage of their MIAA brackets.
Girls soccer became the latest program to reach this milestone on Monday afternoon, shutting out Belchertown at home in the Round of 8. The team will now head to Medway High School on Wednesday to play Dedham in the Final Four. The game begins at 4 p.m.
Before the girls game, the Stoneham boys soccer team will face Newburyport on Tuesday for their own semifinals game.

The boys team entered the playoffs ranked 12th overall. They shut out Saugus and Bishop Stang in their first two playoff games before securing a 4-3 win over Lynnfield in overtime in the Round of 8 on Sunday.
The Stoneham/Newburyport game is set for Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Manning Field in Lynn.

On the gridiron, the Stoneham football team has been dominant this year, earning the top ranking in Division 6 through the regular season before downing Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School on Nov. 4 in the Round of 16.
Stoneham kept the pressure on against Oakmont Regional High School this past Friday, seizing a 50-23 win to now face Cardinal Spellman in the semifinals.
That game will take place at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Weston.
