New Leadership at Stoneham Y Academy Will Focus on Teacher Recruitment

The YMCA of Metro North is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Reed as the new Early Learning Program Director of the Y Academy in Stoneham. Lauren is a career early learning professional with 28 years of experience in a number of childcare settings.

Lauren joined the Y Academy in Stoneham from the West Roxbury YMCA, where she served as Program Director for four years. She holds dual degrees in Sociology and Psychology and Early Childhood Education. She is also an Infant, Toddler, Preschool Lead Teacher, and Director certified by the Department of Early Education and Care.

“For decades, I have made my career in Early Education, and it is a privilege to take on this important role at the Y Academy in Stoneham,” says Lauren Reed. “The YMCA is an incredible place to work, especially for early education professionals. They offer great compensation and benefits packages, including retirement, healthcare, and paid professional development opportunities for people to advance their careers. Lauren is looking forward to taking on new staff members and creating professional development pathways for her current teachers and assistant teachers. The Y Academy in Stoneham is licensed to care for 130 children and is looking to hire more teachers to be able to accept more enrollments.

Lauren is hosting an Open House Hiring Event on September 7 from 6:00pm-7:00pm. Interested Teachers can bring their resumes and tour the facility. Register for the event to learn more.

“We are thrilled to welcome a seasoned YMCA professional like Lauren to our team,” said Katelyn Papadopoulos, Senior Executive Director. “She will be a great leader and mentor to our teaching staff and will be actively recruiting new staff so we can take more children into our early learning center.”

The YMCA of Metro North has 845 students enrolled in its Early Learning and Out-of-School Time afterschool programs and employs 125 Y Academy staff. They are currently accepting application for enrollment in their Preschool programs.

“Our teachers do incredible work and provide a vital service that supports the foundation of our economy so families can work and feel confident their children are in the best care possible,” says Lauren Reed. “Our teachers deserve to be supported, too, with great pay and benefits, and I look forward to recruiting more teachers to work with me at the Y Academy in Stoneham,” said Lauren.
