Representative Day and Senator Lewis Announce $690,000 Community One Stop for Growth Award for Stoneham
BOSTON – Representative Michael S. Day and Senator Jason Lewis are pleased to announce that the Town of Stoneham will receive a combined $690,000 from the Commonwealth’s Community One Stop Growth grant program. The program, run by the Executive Office of Economic Development, streamlines access to thirteen different grants that support projects such as community capacity building, planning and zoning, site preparation, building construction and infrastructure.
"I am proud Stoneham won these competitive grants, and the funds included will provide Stoneham with the tools necessary to modernize critical infrastructure while positioning the town for future growth, specifically the downtown revitalization project set to kick off next year," said Representative Michael S. Day. "By investing in our infrastructure, including improving our water system and expanding sewer capacity, we are creating conditions that will attract new economic development, and this is exactly why we in the Legislature fund these programs."
“I’m pleased that Stoneham is receiving these state funds to modernize crucial water and sewer infrastructure,” said Senator Jason Lewis. “Both of these projects will support current residents and local businesses while helping position Stoneham to continue fostering new economic development and growth.”

Stoneham will receive $500,000 from the Housing Choice Grant Program to improve water quality and will update its existing water line on Main Street (Route 28) from Maple to Marble Street. The project will clean and line the existing twelve-inch water line and install safety and operational equipment including gate valves, valve boxes, hydrants, pipe fittings and couplings. The Main Street Water System Improvements Project will address the current need for upgrades and better help streamline the downtown revitalization project set to kick off in the Spring of 2026.
Stoneham will also receive $190,000 from the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Community Catalyst Fund for the Fallon Road Sewer Expansion Study. This initiative will evaluate challenges at the current pump station, which has reached maximum capacity. The project will directly support the Fallon Road Mixed-Use District, an area designated for both residential development by-right and commercial redevelopment.
