Road Closure Planned Between Stoneham, Wakefield

STONEHAM, MA — Motorists in the Stoneham area can expect road closures and detours on a major road in town this week as roadway paving operations move forward, Stoneham Police said on Saturday.

Elm Street will be closed from its intersection with Main Street to the Stoneham/Wakefield line beginning on Monday. The closure is scheduled to last through Tuesday, police said.

Elm Street is a prominent link between part of Stoneham’s Main Street area and Wakefield. The road becomes Albion Street at the Stoneham/Wakefield line a matter of blocks away from Wakefield's Doyle Early Childhood Center.

Motorists have some options to get between Stoneham and Wakefield destinations around Elm Street during this closure, with various routes utilizing William Street, Spring Street, Green Street and Broadway available.
