STONEHAM, MA — State Rep. Mike Day has tested positive for COVID-19, the illness associated with the coronavirus. Day, a Democrat from Stoneham, is the first member of the State Legislature to test positive for the virus.
Day wrote on his Facebook page that he first experienced symptoms, a low-grade fever and some aches and chills, on Thursday, March 12. He has since self-quarantined at home with his wife and kids, and the family has practiced social distancing, Day wrote.
Day said he was outwardly symptom-free by March 17 but went in for testing after a State House employee tested positive for the coronavirus. He was told he tested positive on Monday.

Day said he will continue to quarantine with his family for an "extended period beyond" his official end date of March 26. His wife and children have remained symptom-free, according to Day.
