Another Stoneham Town Election in the Books

Five things about Stoneham you need to know to start off your day.

Five things to know today, Wednesday, April 3, 2013:

1. Still colder and windy. Mostly sunny with a high near 43, according to the National Weather Service. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 22 mph. Tonight, mostly clear with a low around 25. West wind 10 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

2. Election results are in. See whether the Community Preservation Act passed and which candidates won in yesterday's election.

3. Memorial Day Parade Committee meets at 6:30 p.m. The committee appreciates any help with the parade and invites you to attend this planning session. New members are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The committee will also meet on April 17, May 8, May 22, May 27 and June 5, all Wednesdays. If you have any questions or further information, contact Chairman Maureen Buckley at buck2689@aol.com or 781-572-2068.

4. Walking Club this morning. The Walking Club departs from the Stoneham Senior Center at 8:30 a.m. each Wednesday (except holidays), picks up additional walkers at Finnegan Hall, and continues on for a refreshing walk around the area. This is a great way to get some exercise, meet some nice people and get outdoors. Call (781) 438-1157 for information.

5. Weekly Lake "Q" Fun Run. The Mystic Runners Club takes a run around Lake Quannapowitt every Wednesday night at 6:45 p.m., although the starting time changes in the winter months. Arrive early to get registered—cost is $2. The Fun Run is timed and the results get post on coolrunning.com. Theun starts at Lord Wakefield Hotel, 595 North Ave. in Wakefield.
