Stoneham School Calendar Set: First Day, Last Day For 2022-23
The School Committee opted against a half-day on Dec. 23, a Friday, and begin winter break after end of class Dec. 22.
STONEHAM, MA — The first day of the next school year will be Aug. 31 and, in the miraculous instance of no snow days, kids will be in class until June 13.
The School Committee on Thursday night unanimously confirmed the 2022-23 school calendar. It's not on the website yet, but there will be 182 days for staff and 180 of learning.
School would start Aug. 29 for staff and Aug. 31 for students — the latter of which will also be the final day for Superintendent John Macero. (The School Committee Thursday also voted to enter into negotiations with Assistant Superintendent David Ljungberg to succeed Macero.)

The last day would be June 13. If there are enough snow days to push it back to June 20, the last day of school would actually be June 21, because Juneteenth (June 19) is a Sunday and would be recognized Monday.
Students would leave for winter break on Dec. 22 — the School Committee opted against a half-day on Dec. 23, a Friday — and return Jan. 3.
