Stoneham Chamber Awarded Travel & Tourism Recovery Grant

On Tuesday, the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce was named one of 80 organizations to receive a Travel and Tourism Recovery (TTR) Grant by the Baker-Polito Administration, along with the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT). The grant program is part of the administration’s Partnerships for Recovery, a comprehensive plan to stabilize and grow the Massachusetts economy.

The Stoneham Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce that on Tuesday the Baker-Polito Administration, along with the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism (MOTT) announced that we are the recipient of a Travel and Tourism Recovery (TTR) Grant.

“I’m delighted that this state grant will support a comprehensive marketing strategy and campaign for Stoneham's downtown business district," said Senator Jason Lewis. “Congratulations to the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce for successfully securing this competitive grant.”

The TTR Grant Program is dedicated to marketing projects that support the My Local MA campaign, enhance tourism recovery, and have the potential to increase non-resident visitation. The program’s goal is to strengthen the Massachusetts economy through the development and enhancement of the state’s tourism industry.

The Stoneham Chamber will use the $45,000 grant award to support the Rapid Recovery Plan recommendation of enhancing downtown Stoneham's sense of place through improved branding.

Chamber President Jeff Buxton said of the grant award, “We are grateful to the Baker-Polito Administration and our state delegation for its investment in small business recovery across the commonwealth. I believe the TTR Grant funds awarded to the chamber will help spur economic growth in Stoneham’s business district by highlighting what the town has to offer.”

In the coming months, the Stoneham Chamber will partner with the Town Administrator, Director of Planning and Community Development, Select Board, representatives from the Greater Boston Stage Company and the Stone Zoo, local business owners and residents to create this campaign. It is anticipated that the project will be completed by Stoneham Town Day in September.
